Word to PDF Free — Convert .docx Online

Convert a .docx Word document into a PDF in your browser. Paragraphs, headings, and bulleted lists transfer; images and complex formatting may not. Best for text-heavy documents that need to ship as PDF.

How it works

  1. Drop your .docx file. Drag a Word .docx file onto the page. The 'old' .doc format from Word 97-2003 isn't supported — convert it to .docx first in Word.
  2. We render it to PDF locally. GhostPDF lays out the document's text and structure into PDF pages in your browser. No upload, no Microsoft account, no Office license required.
  3. Download your PDF. Hit download. The output is a clean PDF you can email, print, or sign.

Frequently asked questions

Will the formatting be exactly preserved?

Plain-text fidelity is good — paragraphs, headings, bulleted/numbered lists, and basic line breaks transfer cleanly. Images, tables, exact fonts, columns, and complex layouts may not. For pixel-perfect conversion, use Word's built-in 'Save as PDF'.

Does this support .doc (Word 97-2003)?

No. Only .docx is supported. To convert a .doc file, open it in Word or LibreOffice first and Save As .docx.

Are images preserved?

Some images survive; complex anchored layouts may not render exactly right. For documents with critical image placement, prefer Word's native PDF export.

Is there a file size limit?

25MB. The limit reflects the in-browser converter's working memory.

Do you upload my .docx?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript-based parsers — no server-side document processor.

Free?

Yes. No signup, no watermark, no caps.
