GhostSign is a free electronic signature tool that signs PDFs in your browser. For solo signing, your document is processed 100% client-side — the PDF is never uploaded — and you can draw, type, or upload a signature, place it anywhere, and download a signed PDF with an audit certificate, digitally sealed by GhostX with an independent timestamp (only a SHA-256 fingerprint of the finished file is sent to seal it). To collect signatures from others, GhostSign generates one encrypted magic link per signer; the document is AES-GCM-256 encrypted in your browser and the key lives only in the link fragment, so we never see the contents. Signatures are designed to meet the U.S. ESIGN Act and UETA, and every signed file carries a SHA-256 audit certificate, digitally sealed with an independent timestamp when the seal service is available.

Are GhostSign signatures legally binding?
Electronic signatures made with GhostSign are designed to meet the U.S. ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. § 7001) and UETA, which say a signature can't be denied legal effect just because it's electronic. Whether a particular agreement is enforceable depends on the document and jurisdiction. Every signed PDF includes a consent record, device-reported timestamps and a SHA-256 hash, plus a GhostX digital seal with an independent timestamp when sealing succeeds. (Some documents, like wills and court orders, can't be signed electronically.)
Do I or my signers need an account?
No. Nobody needs to sign up — not you, not the people you send to. You upload, add signer emails, and we generate magic links they click to sign in their browser.
Does GhostSign store my document?
For solo signing, no — it's processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded. For multi-signer, the document is end-to-end encrypted with a key we never see, stored as opaque ciphertext, and auto-deleted after 7 days.
Is it really free for multi-signer documents?
Yes — unlimited documents and signers, no caps. DocuSign's Personal plan caps you at 100 documents a year; GhostSign is free for the sender and free for every recipient.
How do I verify a signed document later?
Every signed PDF carries a SHA-256 audit certificate and, when sealing succeeds, a GhostX digital seal. Upload it to ghostx.tools/verify to confirm it hasn't been altered since it was sealed. The signing order is printed on the certificate.
Everything runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded — for the single-file tools there's no upload endpoint to send them to.
