For solo signing, your document is processed 100% client-side — it never touches a server — and you can draw, type, or upload a signature, place it anywhere, and download a signed PDF with a SHA-256 audit certificate. To collect signatures from others, GhostSign generates one encrypted magic link per signer; the document is AES-GCM-256 encrypted in your browser and the key lives only in the link fragment, so we never see the contents. Signatures comply with the U.S. ESIGN Act and UETA, and every signed file carries a tamper-evident audit trail.

Are GhostSign signatures legally binding?
Yes. GhostSign complies with the U.S. ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. § 7001) and UETA. Every signed PDF includes a consent record, timestamp, and SHA-256 hash; multi-signer documents add a chain-hash proving signing order. (Some documents, like wills and court orders, can't be signed electronically under law.)
Do I or my signers need an account?
No. Nobody needs to sign up — not you, not the people you send to. You upload, add signer emails, and we generate magic links they click to sign in their browser.
Does GhostSign store my document?
For solo signing, no — it's processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded. For multi-signer, the document is end-to-end encrypted with a key we never see, stored as opaque ciphertext, and auto-deleted after 7 days.
Is it really free for multi-signer documents?
Yes — unlimited documents and signers, no caps. DocuSign's Personal plan caps you at 100 documents a year; GhostSign is free for the sender and free for every recipient.
How do I verify a signed document later?
Every signed PDF carries a SHA-256 audit certificate. Upload it to ghostx.tools/verify to confirm it hasn't been altered and to check the signing order.
Everything runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded — for the single-file tools there's no upload endpoint to send them to.
