GhostPDFStudio

PDF to Word, no upload.

Drop a PDF and it is rebuilt as an editable .docx on your device — nothing is sent anywhere, no signup, no watermark.

Convert a PDF into an editable Word .docx document in your browser. GhostPDF reads the PDF's text and structure and rebuilds it as paragraphs you can edit — no upload, no email-me-the-result, no signup. It works best on text-based PDFs (reports, letters, contracts); scanned PDFs are photographs of text, so run them through OCR first. Because the conversion happens on your device, a confidential contract never touches a server — there is nothing to delete afterwards because nothing was sent.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop your PDF

Drag a PDF onto the page. It opens in the GhostPDF studio with Convert → Word pre-selected — nothing is uploaded.

  2. 2

We rebuild it as .docx locally

The text, headings, and paragraph flow are extracted and written into a Word document, entirely in your browser.

  3. 3

    Download and edit

Save the .docx and open it in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice. Every word is editable text, not a picture of text.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is my PDF uploaded to convert it?

No. The conversion runs in your browser with a JavaScript PDF parser — there's no upload endpoint, no queue, and no server-side copy to worry about.

  • Will the layout match the PDF exactly?

Text, headings, and paragraph order transfer well. Complex layouts — multi-column pages, floating images, forms — are simplified. If you need a pixel-perfect replica, keep the PDF; if you need to edit the words, this is the right tool.

  • Can it convert a scanned PDF?

Not directly — a scan is an image of text, so there's nothing to extract. Run the scan through an OCR tool first (GhostImage's Image to Text works on screenshots and photos), then convert.

  • Is there a page or file limit?

No fixed cap. The conversion runs in your browser's memory, so limits depend on your device — hundred-page text PDFs are fine.

  • Can I convert to something other than Word?

Yes. The same Convert step can produce JPG or PNG images of each page, or extract the plain text as a .txt file.

Every GhostPDF tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file is never uploaded — there's no upload endpoint to send it to.
