Photograph a document and it is straightened, cleaned, and stacked into a PDF on your device — with optional searchable text.
Photograph a document and it is straightened, cleaned, and stacked into a PDF on your device — with optional searchable text.
Turn your phone into a document scanner — without installing an app or uploading a thing. Photograph or pick an image of a document and GhostImage auto-detects the page edges, flattens the perspective so it looks scanned straight-on, applies a crisp grayscale or black-and-white filter, and stacks multiple pages into a single PDF. Tick the searchable option and it runs OCR locally to add an invisible text layer, so the exported PDF is selectable and findable. Everything — edge detection, the perspective warp, OCR, and PDF assembly — happens in your browser; your document never leaves your device. Free, no signup, no watermark.
Capture or upload a page
Use your camera to photograph the document, or upload an existing photo. The image is read locally — nothing is sent anywhere.
Confirm the edges
GhostImage auto-detects the document's four corners; drag any corner to fine-tune, then pick a Color, Grayscale, or B&W look and add the page.
Add pages and export
Repeat for as many pages as you need, optionally enable searchable OCR, then download one clean multipage PDF.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. Edge detection, the perspective correction, OCR, and PDF building all run in your browser. There's no upload endpoint — the recognition/vision engines download once, but your image never leaves the device.
How does the edge detection work?
It uses OpenCV (loaded from a CDN) to find the largest four-cornered shape in the photo. If it can't find one — or the engine is blocked — you simply drag the four corners into place yourself; the flattening works either way.
What makes the PDF searchable?
When you enable the searchable option, GhostImage runs Tesseract OCR on each page and embeds an invisible text layer behind the image, so you can select and search the text while the page still looks like a scan.
Can I scan more than one page?
Yes. Add as many pages as you like; they're combined into a single multipage PDF in the order you scanned them. Remove any page before exporting.
Why does my scanned text become non-selectable without the OCR option?
A scan is fundamentally an image of a page, so without OCR there's no text to select. Turn on the searchable option to add a real, selectable text layer.
Every GhostImage tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file is never uploaded — there's no upload endpoint to send it to.
