Pick a quality level and shrink the file on your device — JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and iPhone HEIC, never uploaded.
Compress a JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, or HEIC image right in your browser — no upload, no signup, no per-image cap. Pick a quality level on the slider and GhostImage re-encodes the photo in a Web Worker on your device: JPG, WebP, and AVIF shrink dramatically at the quality you choose, PNG is re-encoded losslessly, and HEIC input is decoded locally and comes out as a compact JPG. Because nothing is uploaded, a 40 MB camera photo compresses just as privately as a screenshot.
Drop your image
Drag a JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, or HEIC file onto the page or click to browse. It opens in the GhostImage studio with Compress pre-selected.
Pick a quality level
Move the slider — lower quality means a much smaller file. The studio shows the new size and how much smaller it is than the original.
Download the smaller image
Save the result straight from your browser. Stack more edits first if you like — resize, crop, convert, strip metadata.
How do I compress an image without uploading it?
Use an in-browser compressor. GhostImage decodes and re-encodes your photo in a Web Worker on your device — there is no upload endpoint, which you can confirm in your browser's Network tab.
How much smaller will my image get?
Photos (JPG/WebP/AVIF) typically shrink 50–90% depending on the quality you pick. PNGs are re-encoded losslessly, so savings are smaller — if a PNG photo needs to be tiny, convert it to JPG or WebP instead.
Does the image keep its format?
JPG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF stay in their own format. HEIC, GIF, and BMP inputs come out as JPG, since browsers can't re-encode those formats directly.
Can I compress a whole folder of images at once?
Yes — the studio also has a Batch compress operation: drop one image, choose Batch compress, add the rest, and download all results as a ZIP.
Will compressing remove EXIF/GPS metadata?
Re-encoding drops most embedded metadata as a side effect, but if scrubbing is the goal use the dedicated Strip metadata step in the studio so it's explicit.
Free, no watermark?
Yes. Free, no watermark, no signup, no daily limit.
Every GhostImage tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file is never uploaded — there's no upload endpoint to send it to.
