GhostImageStudio

JPG to PNG, no upload.

Drop a JPG and it is re-encoded as a lossless PNG on your device — never sent to a server.

Convert JPG images to PNG in your browser. PNG is lossless and universally accepted — the format to reach for when an upload form refuses your JPG, when you're about to edit an image repeatedly, or when an app demands PNG specifically. The conversion happens entirely on your device: drop the JPG, download the PNG, and nothing touches a server in between. Free, no signup, no watermark.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop your JPG

Drag a JPG onto the page. It opens in the GhostImage studio with Convert → PNG pre-selected.

  2. 2

    It converts locally

The image is re-encoded as a lossless PNG in your browser — no upload, no queue.

  3. 3

    Download the PNG

Save it — or keep working: resize, crop, or strip metadata in the same tab.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is my photo uploaded?

No — the conversion runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

  • Will the PNG look better than the JPG?

No — converting can't restore detail JPG compression already discarded. It stops any further loss: PNG re-saves are lossless.

  • Why is the PNG bigger than my JPG?

PNG is lossless, so it stores photos less efficiently than JPG. That's the trade: bigger file, zero generational loss, transparency support.

  • Does it keep my photo's metadata?

The pixel data converts; if you want EXIF (location, camera, timestamps) gone, run Strip Metadata in the same studio — worth doing before sharing anything.

  • Can I go the other way?

Yes — PNG to JPG is the same Convert step with the JPG target, usually to shrink a file 5–10×.

Every GhostImage tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file is never uploaded — there's no upload endpoint to send it to.
